In the heart of the tropical humid forest, the park’s territory encompasses overflowing rivers and low plains at the foothills of the Andes. Yasuni National Reserve covers 9,820 square kilometers, or 3,792 square miles. The 9,620-square-kilometer terrain ranges from upland tropical forest to seasonally flooded forest, marshes, swamps, lakes, and rivers. 1. Morning Voice:
As you explore the lush swaths of rainforest in and around there’s an interesting phenomenon that you will surely come across – the clay licks of the Ecuadorian Amazon. It’s an amazing site at first – hundreds of colorful parrots flocking to these walls of clay and eagerly licking it in an unparalleled display with an notable sound. When you just cross those lush areas you can hear the voice of your heat with those matching voices of the parrot. With native guides that have a remarkable ear and cunning eye for spotting the numerous species that reside in the forest, you just might come away finding yourself away humbled by their keen skills in identifying and naming them.
It’s no secret that Panama acts like a refuge for both migratory and native birds. It’s location between two continents makes it a safe and significant channel for migrating birds. The best stay is staying out in the lodge around the jungle to hear the wake up call and wake up with a fresh morning, instead of those boring wakeup. Hundreds of these are scattered all over the Amazon rainforest. You'll get there just before the parrot activity kicks off between 7:30 to 8:30 AM. Therefore the boat that takes you to the saladero can not get too close to the cliff. We highly recommend you to explore the jungle by taking along a pair of binoculars to get a closer view along with a nice telephoto lens to snap the atmost amazing parrot shots.
" can you just imagine flocks of colorful parrots passing right through the canopy of the tree, Blue-and Yellow flaws flying by; in nearby trees Spider Monkeys search for fruit, while various species of birds call in the early mornings and afternoons... the life of the forest canopy opens right in front of you!!"

There isn’t a definitive answer to the outstandingly high levels of diversity of life forms encountered in Yasuni. Causes may include the low variation in temperatures, high annual rainfall, it has also been described as an ‘ecological bulls-eye’ due to its location at the base of the Andes, along the Amazon and close to the equator – three distinct ecological systems converging on what is a remarkable and unique area."What makes Yasuní especially important is its potential to sustain this extraordinary biodiversity in the long term," said Dr. Matt Finer
